Traveling Tales
Swooping back to where we are…
Smoke the familiar air inviting
A signal, a pillar declaring you are alive.
Traveling Tales is a creative writing project run by and for the Traveling Community. In creative writing workshops we explore themes of home and belonging, inspired by the objects that remind us of our vans, caravans and wagons.
The poetry created is then collaged to make a collaborative poem and transformed into these wall hangings by visual artist Dominkia Ucar.
The aim is to create a traveling exhibition.
So far the workshops have run at Trinity Centre Bristol and the work has been exhibited at Camden Peoples Theatre and Trinity Centre Bristol. The work has been archived by the Southwest Heritage Trust as part of its resource on GRT History.
A young NT Musician has also created a soundtrack inspired by the artworks as part of our Roadside Music Mentorship.
Facilitated by Maddie Wakeling, supported by ACE and Trinity Centre Bristol.
